SWO holds numerous luncheons and dinners each year, where Sufi Women come together with women from other organizations to learn about different projects and opportunities for involvement.

Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention
Sufi Women Organization, as a humanitarian organization, continues its work in Domestic Violence awareness and prevention.
Sufi Women Organization has collaborated with other faith and spiritual leaders and community members and domestic violence prevention advocates in presenting three day-long workshops in Marin County, California. Attendees and facilitators came together for discussion, education, networking, and sharing of resources so that we can learn from and support each other in our work in the community. Women and men from many faiths, professions, and cultures attended.
Opposing Domestic Violence in the Persian Community
Sufi Women Organization is planning for a major women's rights conference as well as developing a program to advocate for the prevention of domestic violence within the Persian community. SWO sponsored a special program on domestic violence prevention at the recent 12th Annual Sufism Symposium. The presentation was in the Persian language, and featured professional women psychologists and attorneys who are actively serving the community in the field of domestic violence.
Women Rising Above Religious Descrimination
SWO will sponsor and host an international conference in the fall of 2005 in Marin County, California. The conference will be of interest to various faith communities and educators. Women and men who have made changes in religion, to bring forth the power and wisdom of women throughout time will be invited to present. We will charge for the event, and may offer units and credits to students, educators, etc. Co-sponsors will be considered. The Sufi Women Luncheons and Special Events are quarterly gatherings of women from a variety of faith traditions and cultures, who gather in the spirit of promoting human rights and community consciousness. At each event, members of different SWO projects present updates and newsworthy activities. An esteemed guest speaker makes a presentation, with topics that include recent research, community organizations, personal triumphs and more. It's an opportunity for members from different SWO branches and women interested in community service to gather to meet new friends and catch up with old friends.
The cost of each luncheon includes appetizer, entree, soft drink, and coffee. Please RSVP one week prior to the event date.
